Road Red

After three days of a marathon printing effort, I have reached the end. I have managed to assemble a nice collection of my favorite images, all printed in my new 11 x 14 format. I am planning on bringing these to our upcoming Second Fridays art event in Council Bluffs Iowa on February 12. I will be posting more information on this as soon as I receive it. I thought that this photograph is as close as I can get to how I feel after three days in the basement, working on my new collection. I shot this a couple of years ago, shortly before the bridge was replaced by a concrete slab. I really miss that old bridge, even if it was a road hazard. Here’s hoping that your journey will find you thinking of the trip I took on “Road Red.”

Mike, are you still using the bamboo-content paper? Curious if you still like it. Also, I don’t know what printer platform you are on (Epson? HP?) but wonder what profile you’re using. Does it need a custom ICC or does it emulate a known standard like EMP?

Good to hear from you Carl! And yes, I am still using Hahnemuhle’s bamboo paper. I continue to love it. I really like the mat surface, the warm base color and the heft it has when I hold it in my hand. Also, it does not have any OBAs, which is a plus for me. I am printing on an HP Z3100 which lets me make custom profiles for the paper. The printer makes some really fine prints when it is behaving. I did notice yesterday that one can find a profile for my printer on Hahenuhle’s web site. I have not used it. If it helps, I have been showing my prints in local art events for over a year. When the good folks look at my prints just in their natural state (i.e. not under glass), they are very positive about what they see. I offer this thought not to blow my horn, but rather to give you a sense that the paper is well received by those who see my photos on it. Does this answer you question? Do keep in touch!
